Pros

This was one of my first jobs as a teenager and I felt it was a good starting point. The other employees were friendly and the work was appropriate for a minimum wage job.

Cons

Not any I can think of.

Pros

-Decent pay -Small team -Nice coworkers(for the most part) and the supervisor is a good dude -Union -Good benefits

Cons

- No set break times, there needs to be a set schedule. - There is pressure to delay your breaks. So if you have a lunch at 12:30 and it's a bit busy, you will likely end up taking lunch closer to the end of your shift and basically miss out on your last 15 break. -A lot of time is wasted. The scheduled shift is 7:00am-3:30pm, but there is a meeting first thing in the morning. The meetings are often not really necessary and waste a lot of time that could've been used to be productive. -While the workers are mostly nice, many of them are terrible at communicating effectively. If you are new and mess up, some of them get really upset at you and accuse you of not paying attention when really they are just bad communicators. -They are slow at training. My entire time working there, I never learned to do some of the essential parts of the job which was annoying.

Pros

The scheduling as a seasonal employee is fairly flexible, I've never had trouble getting the time off so long as I request it prior to the schedule going out. The employee discount is also nice as Bachman's has a great deal of product that makes for great gifts for the gardener in your life, but also has a lovely "gift shop" as well that contains product beyond plant life.

Cons

The vastly different environmental working conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain or shine) is sometimes difficult to plan for, especially if you expect to be working in one area of the store and end up somewhere else. Also the current increase in senior level management's expectations of seasonal employees responsibilities currently comes without pay compensation.
