Pros
Colleagues (and some managers) are friendly and down to earth. The building closes at 5:45, which is good for work/life balance.
Cons
For any future employee I think what you most need to be warned about is the 'leading on' of employees on pay and promotional movement within this company. Many have been put on these 'trial periods' with no change in title or pay for months and months on end with an increased workload to the point that many have left. It is so demotivating both for the worker and also for the people working with them. They claim to have a 'one rule applies to everyone' policy despite the fact that we house warehouse, customer service and office workers in the same building, who will all have different needs and working environments. Everything goes through upper management, in the most minute detail, meaning middle management seem to have very little say. What that means is if you are in a junior position and have several levels of management between you- any request will have to go up that chain with no opportunity to speak to anyone above your immediate manager- meaning your request more often than not gets ignored. The company claims to care but does so in ways that do not LISTEN to what employees actually want or need, merely dictates a very inflexible and old fashioned model. The company meets the barest of minimums when it comes to legal requirements. Yes they are meeting them, but truly by the skin of their teeth. This has been reflected in their redundancy process which has been handled shockingly. It is no excuse to say that they have not gone through it before, or that 'they are finding it stressful too' - employees have come out of that process worse off because of how badly the redundancy was handled and the continued inflexibility and lack of transparency from management.
