Working at BBW is always fun but there are few benefits, no regularity to shifts. Hard to rely on when you have bills. - Sales Associate Bath & Body Works Employee Review

Pros

Fun environment and good quality products to work with all day. I put lotion on as often as I show it to a customer. Training can be brief but other associates are always happy to help you out, just ask. While the associate discount is low (30% as opposed to the average customer discount around 40%-60% if they use coupons) you can use your discount at other company stores such as Victoria's Secret.

Cons

The hours offered are often unsteady, dependent on the hours the store has to offer at the time. One week I'll work 30 hours, the next 7. Perhaps this wouldn't be a problem for someone who has no bills to pay but that simply isn't the case for most. Also, a great deal depends on your manager. I can ask one Manager a question, get an answer, ask another Manager and receive a different answer. Sometimes you honestly have no idea how to do something you do multiple times a day, this is most evident in returns and exchanges. Average pay starts around minimum wage for part-timers. Once a year there SHOULD be a review which usually brings a small raise with it but I have seen these reviews never be completed. Of my five years working at BBW I have had three Partly because of the fluctuating management team. Which brings me to the final topic, promotions. I have seen many girls promoted from Sales Associate to Sales Lead or even Co-Manager. Co-Managers are often given the opportunity to apply for a store management opportunity. BUT, I have also had a manager who hired two Co-Managers and a Sales Lead from her old place of employment. Opportunity seems to depend on the stability of the current management team as well, some stores never have open positions some need new management every few months.

Pros

Great brand to work for! Corporate leaders are great at motivating team down to associate level. (Not sure about Daniel yet though, I’m mostly referring to the tentured leadership team) There’s access to tools that offer clear communication (almost too much communication sometimes). Development is the core of this brand and managers are trained to foster internal talent when it’s identified. The product sold here is cherished by a huge fanbase as well- customers feed off of the excitement the associates have around the product.

Cons

Operationally demanding and challenging; don’t underestimate how much labor and planning goes into selling candles and lotion.
