Pros

Paycheck. It's a small business, you know everyone's name. There are new projects constantly, so you'll get a chance to do things outside of your role.

Cons

Extreme lack of communication in all areas. The office environment is toxic. Never sure if people want to be strictly about work or if they want to be friends. There is very little transparency, which is a problem when in a small business and you can hear things happening around you. Little to no training before being thrown into a giant workload.

Pros

Excellent opportunity for a Business Major to get his/her hands dirty in a start up environment and really have a hand in multiple business units as a company grows. The work life balance is exceptional, and management has a very hands off approach to letting employees manage their own time and projects. Everything can be an adventure since there are no strict standards set in place or preconceived notions of how things should be done. Employees have a lot of creative liberty and freedom and your success is in your own hands for the most part. The company is constantly evolving and there are new needs that must be met on a regular basis because of those changes. Definitely putting my degree/previous management skills to work in multiple capacities.

Cons

It's a start up, so of course there are no established rules or standard operating procedures. It's a flat org hierarchy which is DEFINITELY not for everyone. There is also quite a bit of role ambiguity since the company is so new. All of the issues I have faced are a result of growing pains which are inevitable to a certain extent as companies grow to scale. The company is by no means perfect but I don't think they pretend that they are.
