Pros
The Best Learning in Shenyang, Liaoning is perhaps different from other locations. Aaron and other staff provided a huge amount of support for me as a new arrival--everything from medical/dental visits to losing your keys or debit card were easily addressed. There is also a lot of opportunity to receive support and guidance as a new teacher or even as an experienced teacher looking to meet the classroom objectives that BL has. Aaron and Patrick can provide a lot of insight about the position for someone who is deciding if it is a good fit for them. You can also reach out to current/former teachers for more in-depth details about day-to-day responsibilities and the culture in Shenyang via their Facebook. I loved Shenyang and got to travel all over and see so many beautiful places. The ocean is just 2 hrs away, you can't beat that! Beijing, Dandong, Dalian, Anshan, Changbaishan, are all accessible by train and you can manage other destinations by train or plane which is a huge perk. At Best Learning you and your co-teacher work together in the classroom; I grew close with my co-teachers and they were a big source of support. Keep in mind that communication is important in order to build a good relationship with your co-teacher.
Cons
Be aware of the level you are being asked to teach. When you are interviewing and they are letting you know that you will teach PK1, PK2, PK3, K, G, etc, be aware of the age group in that level. Ask Aaron and/or Patrick specifically what it is like to teach this level if you are unsure. It is really important to be prepared to meet the needs of the age groups that you are going to be teaching!
