Pros

Most employees use this company as a place to gain experience. Overtime is guaranteed.

Cons

Analysts, with bachelor's degrees in a scientific field, are started at around 10.00/hour. Lower if you are a woman, higher if you are a man. Other laboratories in the area start their employees out at a much high wage. Women are not allowed to go out and collect samples because it would mean they would have to drive. Collecting samples is a good way to get overtime, but that option is out for women. The owner talks to women like children. He refuses to fire anyone, so he doesn't have to pay into unemployment. He just treats people he would like to fire so badly that they end up quiting on their own. Supposedly, our priorities are as follows: Safety first, then quality. In reality it is speed, quality, safety - in that order.

Pros

In my opinion this is a wonderful place to work. You get experience in all fields from business management to customer interaction to performing laboratory tests to analyzing results. It's a great all around career building place to work. Customers satisfactions and employee safely is one of the most important goals at this company. Everyone is given a fair chance to excel and reach their full potential. The more you put in the more you are rewarded. With plenty of chances to learn and gain experiences in different fields, this is a great place to build skills. This company also offers great benefits such as 401K, health insurance, dental insurance, and vision insurance. You are also given a certain number of vacation days each year.

Cons

Only con is that when you take too much on your plate you still have to complete your job. You can't get overwhelmed easily because if you aren't organized that can easily happen.

Pros

This job will give back to you in the effort you put forth. Bare minimum or extra effort is noticed by management and rewarded. Bio-Chem Testing prides itself on customer satisfaction and quality control. Safety is also a top priority. Analysts are NOT pressured into analyzing samples that they feel uncomfortable with or if it puts others in harms way. Field samplers are not pressured into sampling or driving places they are uncomfortable. Benefits include competitive wages, matching 401(k)'s, health, dental, vision, vacation, and personal time. I have not witnessed discrimination amongst gender, race, religion, etc. in any position within the laboratory, but I have witnessed rewarded efforts for those that go above and beyond. I've seen both male and female in every position/duty within the organization. Employees have different qualities and are placed where they can make the biggest impact. If it doesn't work the greatest, they may be moved to a better fit if it is available.

Cons

Some employees tend to treat this as a paycheck until "their" better job calls. Time and training is labored into people that don't have any intention in staying. Those people are typically carrying negative attitudes the short duration of there stay and try to carryover the negativity towards others. Overtime is also agreed upon during interviews that there typically will be a need. I don't recall any person turning down overtime in an interview, but when it is time to perform that overtime, there is sometimes resistance (not always, but does occur)
