Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we're genuinely sorry that you found team departures abrupt and upsetting. No one at Bippit wants a colleague to leave feeling that way, and this is something we take seriously.
By way of context, during 2023–2024 we had to restructure the company in response to tough market conditions and a strategic distribution partnership that ultimately didn’t scale. This required difficult, phased reductions across various teams, but these decisions were about reshaping the business for sustainability and future success, not about individuals’ worth or contribution.
Throughout this period we acted in good faith and sought to go beyond our legal obligations. Depending on personal circumstances for members of team that departed, we:
- followed applicable processes (including consultation where required) and maintained compliance in each jurisdiction
- provided pastoral and one-to-one support, references, and introductions to help people find new roles
- offered gardening leave so people could job-hunt without ongoing responsibilities during notice
- extended notice periods or agreed alternative payment terms where it helped financially
- provided occupational health support where appropriate; and
- ensured all due compensation was paid on time.
We don’t agree with the suggestion that the business “lied” about why colleagues were leaving. The CEO communicated the business reasons in company-wide updates and all-hands on multiple occasions, while respecting individual privacy and the confidentiality that surrounds people’s personal circumstances. That of course does mean that we can’t always share every detail, but it should never feel misleading.
In some cases, redundancy conversations have been held by a Head of Department rather than the CEO. If this was the case for you, and the conversation lacked the sensitivity you deserved, we apologise.
We’ve since made changes to improve how we handle difficult news: our CEO now leads or co-leads these conversations, managers receive additional guidance, we provide clear written summaries, offer professional coaching, and ensure that a support person is available.
We remain fully committed to Bippit’s mission and to supporting both our current team and our former employees with respect and care. If you would like to discuss your experience further or believe there’s something we can make right, please contact us directly.
We do read this feedback, and we are committed to keep improving.
