People, Laid back environment (ruined by COVID), Easygoing team lead, Networking Opportunities - for some. I was lucky to be supported by good leaders and management who helped me to move forward in my career but that's not the case, or even average, for everyone.
Cons
oo many to list but here it is in short: If you want a micromanaged, numbers-focused sales job where you don't get paid enough; it's the job for you. If you want career growth but aren't willing to work for dirt, then this isn't the job for you. Cold calling to advertise software that you know nothing about makes absolutely no sense. There's no training on product knowledge and you'll feel like you know nothing even after working the job for years. No learning opportunities - we're feeding people vague sentences and empty promises of helping but aren't able to back up any of those statements with even the simplest of features. Sometimes it feels like the blind leading the blind. You feel guilty for taking days off - and are stressed that you're "wasting time" when you do because of an unattainable quota goal hanging over you? AEs regularly oversell on our product features and rely on customer support and success to fix their issues, not to mention they upsell potential customers and rope them into contracts they can't afford. I recently found out that lots of organizations are not getting notifications of their contracts and find out on their expense reports about Blackbaud charges that aren't authorized by the correct people - that's a huge problem on top of our security issues already. Good luck if you can make it out of the BDR trenches not completely burnt out. COVID has made the mental aspect of this job even worse - but I suppose some type of income is better than none in this climate? Maybe.
