Pros

The residents and most of the site-level employees at my location were kind and I enjoyed working with my coworkers there and interacting with the residents.

Cons

Everything about this company! The pay is horrible, the benefits are horrible, most importantly the management is horrible! Upper management doesn't support the employees in at the site level in any way. The "core values" must be some sort of joke because if this is how they treat their families everyone should steer clear! Their "Equation to Success"is "Happy Employees = Happy Customers = Successful Business", none of the employees are happy, many of their customers are disgusted with them and they'll likely fail sooner than later. I never had the opportunity to use my PTO.

Thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback. I am sorry that you were disappointed in your experience at Bonaventure. I want you to know that we are actively working on a number of the challenges that you identified. We conduct bi-annual culture surveys because we truly want to improve our company culture. I personally read all 845 comments that our employees provided in the last survey and we have already made significant changes to address the top concerns. First, in the last three weeks, we have added two departments specifically focused on providing more support to our onsite teams. Our Training Team will be working to create a better onboarding experience to help set our employees up for success from their very first day. They'll be providing on-demand training for sites that need some extra help and they're actively working to develop career paths to make sure that we're best utilizing everyone's strengths. We've also added a Triage Team to support teams that need a boost in occupancy or need help on the administrative side. All of these support roles are entirely focused on making sure that our onsite teams get the help that they need to be successful. Second, we're working to improve our communication. I, personally, am trying to do a better job of communicating what success looks like. We're also taking advantage of Google+ as our internal social network. We have about half of our onsite employees active on the site and we're committed to seeing this continue to grow and develop. Finally, we know that work/life balance can be difficult in the multifamily industry. We're an industry that's always "on" because we serve our residents. As such, we have created a work/life balance task force that consists of employees from every position at the onsite level and the corporate level. I plan to be an active participant in this task force to make sure that our employees are able to enjoy their work life and their personal life. We're making positive changes. I appreciate your feedback and I would love to speak with you more about your experience. I can always be reached at lauren.curley@bonaventure.com. Thanks, Lauren Curley Chief Operating Officer

Pros

If you're a trash employee who loves financial misconduct, this is the place for you. All the talented people were laid off and the toxic underperformers are left. On the pro, lots of talented honest people are on the job market right now and will end up better off at a new job. Pay was average, and the benefits package was above average. If they didn't offer such good insurance and PTO then more ppl would have left voluntarily.

Cons

Upper leadership makes demands of associates to bend laws and regulations so that they can see the financial results they want. If you have morals, then this is a con. If you're a con person, then this is a pro. Top leadership surrounds himself with an echo chamber who agrees with him and fires anyone who professionally introduces a different idea. Yes Dwight, I'm looking at you. Top leadership is all cash-rich men who shortcut their way to the top.

As a company committed to continuous learning and growth, we acknowledge your feedback. However, we categorically deny your claims about our financial practices and accusations of corporate malpractice. We have a system of checks and balances in place to ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. Our business practices have allowed us to operate for over 24 years, and we continue to review, evolve and enhance our core processes to position us for continued success. Unfortunately, like many other commercial real estate companies and businesses in general, Bonaventure had to make the difficult decision to enact organizational changes due to the prolonged and difficult financial environment. These decisions were carefully planned. We understand the challenges they pose to many of our former colleagues. We have always welcomed thoughtful ideas from our workforce and will continue to prioritize collaboration and knowledge sharing. These values are passionately held by our leadership team and will continue to be a hallmark of our organization. We regret this wasn’t your experience and wish you the best in your future endeavors.
