Pros

The industry BoxWave works in is amazing. See all the coolest new gadgets and products before they're announced, get the scoop on new tech, and work with an intelligent and fun group of professionals. Great food and drink are supplied bi-weekly, and company lunches every so often are a great way to get to know the people in the company; they're all very friendly and fun people. The shallow management structure (~3 tiers) makes for high level project opportunities and accessibility to the highest level of the company. For the most part, the small management team (including upper management) is kind and reasonable to work with. Work environment is very casual and comfortable, with plenty of comfortable couches and amenities for good work breaks and stress relief. The secluded office in Kirkland has plenty of parking and lots of good eats around to get to know coworkers and build team dynamic. Work/life balance is generally fine for 40-hour employees. Full time is considered 45 hours here.

Cons

Senior management is typically absent until late afternoon, while almost every task requires individual approval from the C level. Task assignments are slowed to work with this schedule and are stretched out much longer than necessary due to poor communication and project management. Great ideas are often pitched to management to grow the company, with the groundwork and research laid for new projects to hit the ground running. Very rarely are these projects brought to fruition, even if management is on board. Similarly rare: projects started by upper management coming to completion. There is minimal communications follow-through for special projects. Even for normal tasking, communication and correction are minimal until tasks are completed and need to be redone completely. Good work is not particularly incentivized. There is no HR department or accessible HR point person to protect employees or work through disagreements. Compensation, while advertised as "competitive", is trying at best for non full-timers (45 hours), and there are no benefits or protection whatsoever for 40-hour employees, even in the sometimes dangerous warehouse. Employer may not be aware of all Washington employment regulations and laws. There are some morally gray business practices asked of employees at BoxWave. I will not go further. Micromanagement and suspicious computer activity are common, which makes employer-employee relations tense. Employees are asked to be fully on board and invested in the company, but it's clear that the company is not willing to do the same for employees.
