- Lack of professional growth
- Top down structure in the department
- No sense of strategy behind the work that is produced
(getting a sense of company-wide OKR's is a nightmare)
- Under-qualified management - my current manager is usually off flying for business trips and does very little to provide me training or feedback to help me do my job. This is unfortunately very common across the other regions as well. How am I possibly expected to grow professionally if my manager just keeps speaking about their previous experience at past companies but isn't able to prove this out in their current role?
- A pattern of hiring "friends" and putting them in management level roles. We only seem to be able to pull in friends at this point which creates a major issue: most of the managers are not qualified for their position (again, this is global across all the offices), don't understand the product, and don't communicate well about what they need to work on . Referrals don't solidify the people were great at their jobs prior to starting to Braze, here it usually means they're under-qualified and don't know how to manage.
