Pros

When I worked with Break A Difference (BAD) for a summer I enjoyed every bit of it. BAD worked with another local disaster relief company and led groups of volunteers on days of service at an assigned residence in designated construction activities (e.g. demolition, dry wall installation, painting, or sub floor installation) while providing motivation, supervision, and hands-on guidance to volunteers. At BAD I learned basic construction skills, inventory skills, and how to lead volunteers. Leading volunteers was the most enjoyable part of working with BAD because of the willingness of the volunteers to serve and help out in any way that was needed. No matter the project, people are willing to serve and will usually learn what they need to do pretty fast after you teach them. My manager went out of his way to offer his help and was considerate of my skills and beliefs. He would defer his authority to me when I knew more about the topic or job at hand than he did.

Cons

I have nothing negative to say about working with Break A Difference. I enjoyed my summer working with them and cannot say enough about how enjoyable my time was there.
