      Did not challenge me as an intern - Transportation Engineering Intern CHA Employee Review

      Pros

      Fortunately I was able to network with some engineers who were more in line with what I wanted out of a mentor. I also really enjoyed the internship program which included site visits, informational talks, and out of work activities like laser tag. In the end, this wasn't enough to make me want to go back for another Summer but it was still valuable experience for me heading forward onto other pursuits.

      Cons

      I was initially very excited to work at CHA and immediately accepted the offer there. Unfortunately, what began as a fun experience became a monotonous routine. My manager did not challenge me with assignments or take time to properly teach me things. They were often busy and I would go days without seeing them. The office was a grey color and made me feel as if I was living in a tangible Dilbert world. Most employees did not seem to be particularly interested in socializing either which led to a focus on work mostly. This left me to a routine of viewing plans and archiving files for days on end which was not particularly challenging.

It's our belief that if we can provide our interns with context and hands-on experience it will help to develop and grow them into the future talent we need on our team. As for the appearance of our offices in Colonie; we've begun a top to bottom renovation several months ago and look forward to having a brand new space to work in very soon!

      CHA is a great company to work for, I been with them for almost 8 years and can say without a doubt this is the best company I've ever worked for. They value their employees and trrat everyone with respect.

      Pros

      Seeing a pattern of addressing only the pros and rarely having any accountibiloty to comments in Cons section, Pros will not be listed here.

      Cons

      -Hyper critical work culture to point that compromises employee personal and office morale -Almost no field support and field between on-site field team is almost impossible -Field supervisors are spread very thin in responsibility which causes the above issues -Employee personal dislikes are apparent on teams which lead to discordant team dynamics. Ex. Team member will laugh and joke with some team members, but other get professional, but near frigid responses. -Favoritism is rampant creating a less than ideal work environment.
