Pros

For a company of this size, their meal allocations (unlimited spending, within reason) and hotel accommodations are generous for trips to their home city, Chicago. The company really takes into account where you’d like to take your career and will support you in reaching those goals. For instance, if you express that you’re interested in Change Management, they will try to place you in a Change Management role. There is no “bench”, meaning that you don’t have to worry about finding a project yourself. You can expect to always be staffed. I’ve also never had administrative staff members email me Happy Birthday on my birthday - that was a nice touch! There are lots of nice people at CSG overall.

Cons

If you’re coming from a larger consulting firm, this may be a culture shock. I was fired for a first offense of not being online when I was supposed to be. Every single person at the firm, and I dare say every single person who’s ever worked fully remote, has done this at some point in their career. CSG’s reaction was shocking to me. They have no leniency and will not even give you a warning, write you up, or put you on a PIP first. You also cannot go into negative PTO and there is no sick leave, which I guess is standard for smaller companies. But I’d suggest changing this policy if CSG continues to grow and wants to be competitive with other consulting firms. Also, the health insurance plans here are the worst that I’ve ever seen for consulting. I have never had to pay so much for my prescription medications.

Pros

Remote work. Nice co-workers. All expenses paid trips to the headquarters.

Cons

Unforgiving, draconian disciplinary process. Health insurance is a joke.
