I worked as over the counter server. It was an entry level position that allowed me to gain some experience on how is to work in the USA generally speaking. Getting the job was easy though. Basically filled out the paper application and talked briefly with the manager. It was pretty much "when can you start?"...
Cons
I served what was prepared in the open kitchen. Most of the people could barely speak any English, and it is like all of them were just trying to get by with that employment. You could see new workers starting almost every week. Everyone was on minimum wage. Working full time was not enough to pay the rent and the bills. I could not wait to get out of there and find something better.
