Pros
Since day 1, I have felt welcomed by all, and everyone I come across has a great attitude. My father worked for Calpine, and raised my brother and I in Middletown based on his time here. The fathers and family members of many of my longtime friends also worked, and still work for Calpine. Calpine to me is a family company that offers opportunity for growth and success. The leadership has been great in the onboarding process, and I have learned a great deal just in the last 30 days. I see a future here, and have always wanted to be here. I am proud to call myself a Calpine employee.
Cons
The only real downfall is the travel time. Since I am from Middletown, and started at the Socartes Warehouse, my commute was great at first. However, when I have to work at the WFO warehouse, by commute goes from 15 minutes to 50 minutes each way. That's almost an addition 2 hours to my work day, unpaid, and in my personal vehicle. The additional time part is not so much the issue, but it would be extremely beneficial, and much more logical to start at the Socartes warehouse, and take a company vehicle all the way to the other side of the mountain. That's another 30-35 minutes on hard roads, and it takes a toll on a persons personal vehicle.
