Pros

You'll be working with some of the friendliest peoples around.

Cons

The niche technologies. Horrible flexible work ethic. Let me tell you a story and let you decide. March 2020 - the CDC declared a global pandemic. Camelot was on the fence whether this justify as an emergency situation. Employee wanted to work from home, but Camelot wanted them to pay for the chance to work from home normally and be safe. Camelot wanted employee to either take a 30% pay reduction, work 30% longer hour (11.05 hours per day + 30 mins mandatory break), or pay them back in the form of your hard earned sick time off accrued over the years by clocking in the extra time after 8hrs as sick time. 11.05-8 = 3.05, 'but 3 hours is fine because we're nice'. And you're allow to go negative. i.e owe them money. Camelot finally was forced to adjust this harsh policy due to employee backlash and only requested 1.5 hour per day, isn't it so wonderful? July 2020 -Camelot started 'nudging' employee to work in office with small changes to the work from home policy by making it harsher by the day. On the bright side, Camelot did give out miniscule quarterly bonuses as free pandemic money. Short version - global pandemic, you can't work from home because it's not an emergency. We had to fight to be safe, but we had to pay our employer to be safe. Camelot compensation is around 30-40% below the market average.

Pros

Co-workers that are not in management are incredible people and resources! Some freedom in your work. Some of their customers are great people (others not, but that's a whole different story!). Some of what you do might look good on a resume for another employer.

Cons

Management are great technical resources, but horrible managers. Some of the stuff they have done made me ask myself "is that legal?" Also, they can be unprofessional. Comp is mediocre, and there are policies regarding comp that are bizarre and I never seen elsewhere. Lack of investment in resources (we have 5 interns, they have to share 1 phone) as well as a lack of creating a positive environment to work in. Tons of micromanagement involved. You will have to clock your time to the minute, and you can definitely see in everyone's day-to-day just how much that affects everyone in a negative manner. Also, you are expected to work more than 40 hours per week. High level of turnover due to what I've mentioned.

Camelot 3PL Software Response

Let me start by thanking you for your feedback. At Camelot, we aim to communicate openly and with transparency and encourage anyone to bring any concerns to your Manager, HR, Corporate Coach, or myself to help address any issues directly. We will take the feedback seriously and work with that employee to improve their work environment or discuss alternate job duties and career path. Working in software development, support, and implementations can be a stressful job and we constantly strive to improve the way we work with clients and with each other. We strive to create an atmosphere of team work, family, and fun where possible. We continually invest in new resources, as we want all employees to feel they can be successful as they grow in their careers. We proactively hire new employees twice a year to keep up with the projected workload. Since new employees are typically recent college graduates, managers and senior resources take time to train and pass on our experience to up-and-coming professionals, including our software and business practices. Time management and recording one’s work is an important component to Camelot, as is for many professionals and consulting companies for billing and future projections. As for our compensation policies at Camelot, we have quite a few progressive bonus opportunities for exceptional individual performance, team performance and company-wide performance. Camelot strives to find the right balance of compensation strategies to keep employees motivated and being competitive in the market. We also pride ourselves of being innovative, including other bonus opportunities for travel time to client sites, being away from home overnight, off-site parking, and our unique “go-green” bonus to reduce carbon footprint. All of Camelot’s policies are legal, and we would not tolerate illegal activities or behavior. I encourage you to reach out immediately to discuss this in more detail.
