Pros
The pay is competitive, at one point it was very autonomous, dynamic environment, the company provides free food often. BIT training program is great.
Cons
The purchasing department is very misogynistic. Once the restructure happened last year, managers became more of micromanagers. There is no promotion in purchasing. There is also no real chance of being in presidents club. The company rolls out new software and systems quickly without thoroughly testing them. Then, there are issues and the solution is to go back to the old way of doing things. Tons of nights and weekends which was exacerbated by the restructure. I was told to advance my career I would need to be able to manage conflict better. The only example was when I reported that a senior buyer was harassing me. So basically, I would need to be ok with being harassed by people above me. Overall it is clear that the new CEO's only focus is efficiency and customers, where CarMax was previously associate centric, and it showed in the overall engagement of all teammates. Health insurance is crap. Every time I went to the doctor, I would still end up with a $200 bill at minimum. My PM also played favorites.
