Management has zero concept, company's become a resume-building shop for staff - Underwriter CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Employee Review

Pros

Other staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to share and train as necessary. Health benefits are just "okay", could be better considering the company manages its own employees' pooled account in-house

Cons

Another reviewer said it best: "Too many personalities are allowed to remain that way." Management: - never held accountable for their incompetence - will sabotage project work to push political and personnel agendas - blames every missed deadline/deliverable/error on staff - expects staff to put in overtime to clean up after their poorly-communicated directives - ignore ideas proposed by staff to fix serious system issues, opt for a band-aid when a transfusion is necessary - spends an inordinate amount of time following staff whereabouts via Skype - ignores signs of internal audit issues until the internal audit team fails the department on multiple SOX deficiencies - doesn't allow staff access to tools and data needed to perform their jobs and then wonder why the work doesn't get done - schedules regular mandatory all-day trainings on basic topics well-understood by veteran staff, again wondering why work is not completed - are often rude, both casually and in ways that go beyond surface-level interaction - leave most of the actual "management" of the work to staff, spend the majority of their time managing people rather than workflows and wonder why projects are never done correctly or on time - spend huge chunks of each day on conference calls arguing with other teams over requirements rather than working to create useful capabilities and viable solutions - never recognize high-performing staff they do not like, heap praise and special privileges on those in their clique - hire older industry-experienced employees, copy whatever subject-matter knowledge they can, and then lay them off, restructure the organization, and dump the work off onto younger hires with lower salaries - heap the responsibilities of those who leave/are fired onto remaining staff without increasing pay - don't care about employees' work-life balance

Pros

I have a supportive team, my leadership encourages work-life balance, the company culture is very pleasing to me, plenty of leadership presence and transparency about company happenings, and the employee benefits are phenomenal.

Cons

I genuinely don't have anything negative to say at this moment.

Pros

Ability to work from home.

Cons

Extremely low salary for 2026. Far too much work to stay afloat. Everyone is on PTO constantly which makes training/help almost impossible. Tenured employees are unavailable majority of the time and leave unfinished work on your plate to deal with.
