Pros
The rank and file who work at CareFirst are hardworking, ethical people.
Cons
Unfortunately, the leadership of CareFirst has recently failed basic tests of honesty while completing its January restructuring efforts. Employees are by and large people who understand economic realities, and government regulations and industry turmoil have created an uncertain environment where all health care companies are prioritizing cost reductions. Businesses have every right to reduce workforce in an effort to reprioritize their resources. But for CareFirst to downsize so many employees after assurances were made in "town hall"-style forums by executive leadership that employees at certain levels would be safe in their jobs was a cynical, disrespectful ploy. I like to think that our former CEO is enjoying his retirement, but probably also feeling a bit of shame for the new regime. Someone needs to, for I doubt they are feeling it themselves.
