Center for Human Development

Is this your company?

If you stayed out of the office, which I did as much as I could, you were not likely to get caught up in the drama! - Anonymous employee Center for Human Development Employee Review

Pros

Absolutely, hands down, every single personality that clients brought to the table!! Each and ever person served has a story... a fascinating one! I enjoyed listening to all of them.

Cons

The upper management ran the agency poorly! There was a lack of support and once she had a target on your back, you knew it. The unprofessionalism to the Stilettos to the low cut shirts... the company from the top did not make a good name for itself. The ones who were on the front line day after day working with those memorable clients were not held with any value. Everyone there is expendable!!

Pros

It aligns with my core values in helping others. The work is meaningful and I feel I make a difference. The management is very supportive of staff continuous learning and the teams work together well.

Cons

In the world of mental health, and substance abuse, the work never ends.

Pros

CHD operates as a modified holacracy; empowering self-managed teams to accomplish the vital work of providing Public Health, Behavioral Health, DD and Veterans Services for Union County residents. The executive function of the organization is provided by an Administrative Council, a team which provides strategic direction without micro-management. CHD provides a supportive and inclusive environment, has a low turnover rate, and provides excellent retirement contributions. CHD operates in a beautiful area with lots of outdoor recreation opportunities.

Cons

CHD’s structure and culture are not for everyone. For those who thrive in a traditional top-down structure, CHD can be challenging. Individuals who prefer clear hierarchy, closely directed supervision, and decision-making driven primarily by management may find this model less comfortable. However, for team members who value autonomy, shared leadership, collaboration, and accountability, CHD offers a uniquely rewarding and empowering workplace. The city and county are small. The nearest airport is nearly two hours away.
