Pros
Pay is above what many other companies in the area offer. When I started, it was a small team and offered great flexibility. Seemed to be a growing company with opportunities for growth.
Cons
Others have said upper management knows them and cares about their families; in my experience, they do not care about ALL employees or their families. They knew me, and after telling me my job was secure just 2 weeks before (and having a very positive evaluation with the owner's 2 months before), were more than willing to let me go just a few weeks before my wife had a baby, causing us to lose insurance the day the baby was born. This occurred after a project failed, and no one who actually worked on that project was let go (after it lost them a lot of money); I completed a government project that was actually bringing them income THAT DAY (they waited until I finished it for them to let me go). I was given no explanation of what happened, just told I was done. Things had started to become increasingly stressful, micromanaged, and hostile by the time I left; in some ways it was a relief. There were far too many meaningless meetings, then we were expected to work extra hours to compensate for being in meetings all day and not having time to complete projects during working hours. There was also a lot of favoritism shown to employees who came from the manager's former company. I also felt discriminated against because of my political affiliations, since this is a government-contract company.
