Pros
I have really enjoyed the other junior members of the company. I have made some close friends that I don't think I may have in other companies. Everyone has some kind of niche science/technical info and most like to grab lunch or talk after work. Chartwell as a concept (operations/engineering consulting) is really a good fit for people that are looking to be close to engineering, but focused on developing as managers and team leaders. I also like interacting with the client-side teams. Projects often involve forming relationships up and down the organizational tree from plant managers or VPs down to the base-level technicians that run the plant. You get to interact with so many interesting people and get so many funny and wholesome stories.
Cons
Unfortunately, this company is not the place to be right now. I would stay away. The analyst position, with its 6-month, extendable, probational period, currently feels like a meat grinder for college graduates. November and the first half of December of 2024 (1.5 months), they asked 4 analysts to leave, two of which started in September. With how few projects they have going right now, it feels like being put on project, at any junior rank, is a test where failing to achieve an opportunity may get you fired or pip'd. For some projects, the scope is just off. At the moment, it is very common to work 11-12 hours a day on-site and then have a couple of hours of evening work (which is fine with some people, but just not what this firm advertises). The last main con is the lack of professionalism by some of the managers and up. This company is very young age-wise across the board, and it shows in some of the ways that situations are handled. I feel like little mistakes are nitpicked just because managers think they need to say something, and that managers can be pretty unprofessional in how they deliver feedback, whether that's letting emotion into their points, or delivery negative feedback by abruptly pulling you aside.
