Pros
Fun atmosphere depending on team chemistry and manager or team leader. Biweekly happy hour at the Dania beach office. Weekly pay if you are hourly or part time. Lots of opportunity to grow and internal promotions. Management and team leaders are approachable. Large break room.
Cons
I've been here for alittle over a year now and seen a lot of changes for the good and for the bad. When I started there was a lot of amazing perks and people were more friendlier but now the culture has changed and many perks have been taken away. Pay is pretty average and not competive. For CSRs they start at about $12 per hour. As I said I been here for a year. So they hired a new guy with a similar position as mine but with less responsibilities. I overheard on his second day working here he was making $3 more than per hour than myself. Yes I was greatly disappointed. As I said not competitive or fair. Management is quite young mostly 20 or early 30 somethings who are either highschool drop outs, barely high school grads or college educated. Most are inexperienced in management, immature, and not professional. Which means there is zero leadership and nothing to learn from them except how to keep your job. Luckily for me I was lucky to get a pretty good manager who has some leadership qualities. But for most of you this will not be the case. As glass door reviewers have said the Dania beach office Is plagued with favoritism. Yes it is real and much alive. In order to move up the ladder you will have to kiss a lot of you know what to move up. Being good buddies with high level employees will bring fortunes your way. Unfortunately the work hard and things will fall into place mentality does not apply here at Chewy. CSRs are expected to work one weekend on every shift. If you are not salary forget about having enough PTO for vacations or sick time. Salaried workers get unlimited PTO whereas hourly full timers get about .77 minutes per weekly paycheck. Also you are not allowed to take days off between Thanksgiving and Christmas due to black out dates. High turnover amongst the Fullfillment center and CSR/Card writing staff is pretty common. If you are in either this departments expect to be burned out within 8-12 months and contemplating looking for another job. Not because of the job stress but because of your incompetent manager and work load you are expected to perform daily. Managers love piling on more work. 401k is a joke. No company matching. No word on when this will change. I opted out of out of Chewys 401k plan and used the money for other personal investments. Also save your money since they can fire you at anytime for any reason. You are longer allowed to bring your dog to work as some employees abused this priveldge and would let their dogs poop, vomit and pee in the Dania beach hallways and elevators. Only "special" people such as VPs and "C" levels and butt kissers apply. No quarterly town hall meetings with "C" level executives about how the company is doing and where The company is headed. Is Chewy working on selling the company to an investor once they become public? How are our sales doing? What is forecasted for next the quarter? Just expect to clock-in and clock out after working your 8 hours. No annual reviews or work performance appraisals which means this is a dead job unless your in a leadership position. After a year of your employment I would suggest dragging your boss in a one to one meeting and ask for one. Parking is horrendous. This place is much worst than looking for parking on Black Friday at a crowded mall. If you have a shift at 10am-4:30pm Mon-Fri or if you are a contract remote card writer good luck finding parking. The building security is quick to put a green towing sticker on your driver side window. Most people resign versus getting fired. Yes it is that bad. When you had enough of this place you will most likely walkout. To most it just a paycheck.
