The work available can be very, very interesting with high profile exposure to major politicians. The work-life balance is largely good.
Cons
Low salary on the Fast Stream and throughout career in comparison to what you would earn in the private sector. Postings are extremely variable: some areas are fast moving and interesting, in others people are literally doing nothing at all for a lot of the time.
