Pros

- Nice office space and free parking - Free snacks and beverages - Certified B Corp - Mostly friendly coworkers

Cons

- Senior leadership for the most part is incompetent and clueless about problems within the agency - Toxic work environment, people get thrown under the bus constantly - Lack of new business success, consistently losing new business pitches and clients - Inability to upsell clients and expand partnerships - Lack of synergy between media, creative and account departments - Lack of investment in software/tools that make job more efficient - Terrible billing process that eats up time and restricts opportunities to partner with best vendors - Inconsistencies across the board as it relates to media planning, communication, client service, etc. - Investment in AWFUL software tools that make job miserable (WORKAMAJIG, dashboards, market research, etc.)

Pros

-The projects here go beyond the usual—they’re designed to create real, lasting change in public health, sustainability, and communities. That kind of work is hard to find. -Everyone’s input is valued, and brainstorming feels like a real team effort. You leave conversations feeling energized and aligned. -The hybrid setup gives you the best of both worlds: a beautiful office to connect in person and the freedom to work remotely when it fits your life. The option to work anywhere in the world for a month each year is a standout perk. -Whether it’s stepping into new challenges or building your skills, leadership is invested in helping you succeed. -There’s a sense of trust and mutual respect at Civilian that creates a strong foundation. -Civilian isn’t a place for coasting—but if you’re looking for meaningful work, a supportive team, and the chance to grow, it’s a place worth considering. The challenges are real, but so are the rewards.

Cons

-Rapid organizational growth sometimes outpaces process development, causing temporary inefficiencies.

Pros

-Summer Fridays -Meaningful work aimed at bettering society versus selling products -Many great colleagues who operate with integrity

Cons

-Low paying especially when considering the emotional toll of working in a toxic environment where anything you do can and will be used against you. -Poor business etiquette. Leadership does not nurture or invest time in existing client relationships or support the work, so as to not be accountable for how it’s going. (This would also expose some very low functioning VPs which would be total chaos!) -Major blind spots resulting in an inability to hold on to critical talent, straining teams.
