Pros

The Residents are wonderful! They are the only reason I've stayed. Golden Pond Senior Living has potential.

Cons

Due to constant turnover at Golden Pond Senior Living in Sacramento, Ca, the staff who've remained are burned out. They are intimidated into working overtime and then criticized for having worked too many hours. When you're hired they ask for your availability and then completely ignore the times you've indicated that you're free to work. A number of people left as result of conflicts with childcare. Management didn't schedule according to their available schedule. Management doesn't follow through and they frequently scapegoat the problems onto some subordinate staff. This is the practice throughout the facility in every department. During Interviews the hiring manager will literally talk about how bad the staff is and who she wants to get rid of, so on your training days, you're wired to not associate with certain people because it threatens your job. So you end up with staff who don't work well together. I've also been in a situation where a manager asked me directly about another staff person and my response was "I've never worked with that person. So I can't tell you how they are performing." Just to have the manager say, "well I heard from residents they aren't working out." So those individuals were fired. A majority of the residents that had contact with those staff members were very disappointed with management. "You get to know some of these kids and then they get fired for no good reason," one resident stated. There is very little support from managers, so be prepared to work hard for very little compensation. I've been here for a while (+2yrs) and I've never had a staff review. A staff review allows management to give you feedback on your work and recommend pay increases. If you never get a review, then your pay never increases. I've stayed this long for the residents. I love them.
