Pros
CommonLit is a unique non-profit. Since I joined the organization, it has scaled from a tiny tech-startup to an organization that serves a majority of schools in America. From the very top of the organization to its newest members, everyone is laser-focused on improving educational outcomes for students across the United States and Latin America. Through tons of hard work and its commitment helping students and teachers, CommonLit has built a tech platform and literacy program that has become indispensable in countless schools. CommonLit's team works really hard to recruit and retain elite talent, who are eager to improve K-12 education. The team includes a host of seasoned former educators, data scientists, software developers, product designers, and recent college graduates, who enjoy their work and collaborating with others to build great products and solve complex problems. CommonLit is an unapologetically fast-paced environment. The team is rapidly tests assumptions, works on short deadlines, and is willing to change course when needed. While it's certainly a competitive team, the organization has also built a supportive environment where team members are encouraged to work collaboratively and seek support from colleagues.
Cons
CommonLit may not be the ideal organization for people who are resistant to change or who enjoy a predictable routine.
