Difficult environment to thrive - Department Director CommonSpirit Health Employee Review

Pros

Great benefits and awesome retirement plan

Cons

You pay for those benefits in several ways. Firstly, they have something called "HC" which is a means of balancing their productivity by sending people home unpaid (if you want to get paid for the day--you have to use your paid time off). No paid holidays--that comes out of your PTO. Senior management tightens either overtime or productivity almost arbitrarily, but that means that we work short most of the time as the department managers try to keep up with senior admin's instructions--failure of which means a freeze on any new position requests or replacements. All this while senior administration enjoys hefty bonuses and large salaries. It's more akin to a cut-throat tech company than a healthcare institution that boasts concepts like "Humankindness" and built on Christian doctrine.
