Pros

1. People - I am surrounded by unbelievably intelligent people at all times at Compass. An incredibly diverse set of world class leaders and the brightest minds of every industry and practice are around every corner. I'm constantly inspired to dream bigger and move faster. 2. Mobility and Development - Compass is a very flat organization. The room for upward mobility and career development is unparalleled. Managers ask about and are evaluated on their interest and commitment to helping direct reports succeed at Compass and beyond Compass. It shows. Leaders are engaged and interested in individual contributors impacts on the company and truly care about the experience at Compass. 3. Once in a lifetime - I will never have an experience in a role quite like this one, and that makes it incredibly exciting. Walking around the halls here is what I imagine it was like walking around the halls of Facebook or Google in their early days. This is a once in a generation company and it's a thrill to be apart of an organization that will transform an industry. 4. Leadership - The Leadership team is incredible - and it starts at the very top. Robert and Maëlle are fantastic leaders, that care deeply about the people who work at Compass. 5. Office - great facilities. The couches here are more comfortable than my couches at home.

Cons

1. Moving at this speed isn't for everyone - things move at Mach 5 here. Some people enjoy it, some people don't. A lack of a need or tolerance for speed will hold you back at Compass. 2. Crowded - it comes with hyper growth, but the offices are crowded. It's a good sign, but finding a conference room or a quiet spot can be tough sometimes 3. Lots to keep up with - in a growing Company, information can come at you fast. Sometimes it's hard to keep track of every initiative, and which are top priority.

Pros

People are smart. Very much a “move fast and break things” culture which can be refreshing compared to bureaucracy-heavy corporate life. I don’t agree with their values (if they have any) but what they’re doing is unquestionably working - business outlook is strong.

Cons

Leadership will tell you there’s no ego or self-interest involved in their strategy - that is untrue. It’s an extremely heliocentric culture around the CEO. A lot of the work is based around what people they're guessing he’ll like, but there’s no alignment at the outset and something you worked on for weeks/months will be trashed after one look from him. Their mission is ostensibly about empowering agents but they are solving a problem that pretty much no one was complaining about before they started, and which just so happens to work highly in their favor in terms of market share. It’s just business but very disingenuous- don’t believe the hype that it’s altruistic somehow. Also the CEO loves to share his sob story about his single mother upbringing, but simultaneously enacts some of the most anti-parent policies you could think of.
