A Good Place To Gain Experience - Anonymous employee Compass Records Employee Review

Pros

This is a good place to gain experience and learn how to navigate an office environment - especially if you are in school or just out of school and have a limited work history within this type of setting.

Cons

This is not necessarily a "con" but if you are going to work for this organization, you should be ready for quite a bit of physical labor. Moving stock, creating large mailings, and handling various shipping and receiving duties is part of the daily course of business. Again - not really a "con" but something you should be aware of if you are considering pursuing employment here.

Pros

While the role isn’t without its challenges, it does offer solid stability through a salaried structure, reliable benefits, and a consistent schedule. The team is genuinely friendly and supportive, which contributes to a pleasant day-to-day environment. Overall, it’s a dependable position for anyone seeking steady work and a reliable paycheck.

Cons

Work life balance can be challenging, and while the role is salaried, the pay is relatively low. Due to ongoing staffing shortages, employees are often expected to take on responsibilities beyond their job descriptions. The company lacks strong communication and culture, and the fulfillment department in particular experiences higher turnover than other areas. The position can feel quite isolated and involves a substantial amount of physical, repetitive work. There is also one coworker who can be very intense and difficult at times, though on a personal level I genuinely liked him. Overall, this role may appeal to those who prefer independent, hands-on tasks.

Pros

Salary pay and health insurance.

Cons

*Do not work here if you value your dignity, mental health, and self-respect. If you value a pay check over your sanity then by all means apply. *They have allowed a mentally unstable person to run rampant here - unchecked - for over 20 years without ever making him seek therapy for his out of control temper and verbally abusive/sexist behavior. *This person said sexist and inappropriate things about other women in the office, clients, and artists on the label. When confronted, he always replied "I don't care". This person is argumentative, puts people down instead of building them up, and destroyed any semblance of what could have been a decent job. *This person is the actual definition of toxic and created the worst working environment I've ever been apart of. What's worse is the owners just let it go unchecked and told me to deal with it myself. *This person was regularly heard screaming obscenities from across the building and would regularly get in peoples faces, scold co-workers for silly reasons, and regularly said bad things about clients, co-workers, and business partners - including other musicians. *Sexist, misogynistic, mean-spirited, nasty, offensive, unrelenting, remonstrant, verbally abusive, and violent. *For a record label that brags about being around for 25 + years, the incredible lack of organization is completely reckless and made it really hard to get anything accomplished. DO NOT APPLY HERE - THIS IS YOUR WARNING
