Pros
There is opportunity to move into a supervisor position once passing the BCBA exam. If you work here, you will learn a lot on how to implement curriculum and programming. As a BCBA, your case load is lower than many other companies. Bonus- all services are provided in the clinic so no commuting between clients! Eve picks and chooses her "favorites", so hope you are on her good side!
Cons
Therapists often have an uneven case management load. Some therapists are given the responsibilities of a supervisor without additional compensation. Some therapists see students 38 hours a week with a high paperwork load while others only provide 20 hours of service and virtually no paperwork- yet they are paid the same. Several of the BCBAs are incompetent and lack common sense. Very little vacation/sick time is given in comparison to similar companies. No lunch break is given (illegal!)- instead you are assigned "prep" time. You are expected to complete paperwork during this time. Sometimes these "prep" times occur early in the morning or late in the afternoon, so not even proper time to eat without a student! The staff are gossipy and cliquey. The clinic environment is not suitable for every student, and some should be recommended for home services so they can learn ADLs and skills needed for home in a more naturalistic environment. Many parents see the clinic as a drop-off babysitting service. Many parents should receive parent training, however this is not a part of the clinic's programming.
