Pros

During my time, it was a stable company that paid above average for the location for the industry (non sales role). Many folks are 'lifers'

Cons

It was a dated, dark, stingy building. Everyone was always getting sick. More so than any office I've ever worked in - the air didn't feel clean. Benefits were lack luster. Employees are 'thanked' for a year of hard work with a free turkey at Thanksgiving and a gross lunch served from the cafeteria. That is about it for special incentives. It's a company straight out of the 80s and as soon as tech grows more in the area, they won't be able to compete for talent. Layoffs are happening across the board and departments are shrinking significantly.

Connection Response

It is unfortunate that your experience at Connection did not meet your expectations. Tenure is something to be celebrated in our book. However, that does not translate to a lack of interest in attracting new talent to Connection. Strategic talent acquisition is paramount to retaining our status of distinction in the industry. Effective partnering will lend to a robust work environment that will challenge the status quo and propel Connection forward. In addition to HVAC units receiving routine maintenance, our corporate cleaners attend to custodial tasks daily and the offices are preemptively equipped with sanitizing dispensers. Fresh coats of paint are applied on a routine basis. As a self-insured employer, we have a vested interest in ensuring our employee population remains in good health. This November, as in prior years, as an expression of gratitude, the management team extended warm wishes while distributing turkeys to employees. That appreciation extended to local food pantries who received donations from Connection to fill their Thanksgiving baskets and stock its respective shelves. Historically, in December, employees are invited to a holiday luncheon (which caters to those with specialized dietary needs) as a gesture of thanks. We are fortunate to be able to do this and many employees comment how appreciative they are of these activities. These particular traditions do not exist at many companies any longer. As a publically traded, Fortune 1000 entity, it is fiscally responsible to manage expenses and leverage resources in the interest of investing in the long-term sustainability of Connection. With that being said, layoffs are not broad and rampant at Connection. On rare occasions, a reduction in force was employed to adjust our expenses so that Connection would have the resources and capital to drive future growth. These decisions were not made in haste. You are welcome to review the Investor Relations page of our website (http://ir.connection.com/) to listen the most recent earnings call, examine key financials and review previous performance. Thank you for sharing your experience.
