Pros
Benefits (Insurance/Profit Sharing/401k) are above and beyond. Insurance coverage is the best I've had at any company. 401k matching up to 4% is also a huge plus. Paid time off is generous and can be banked for future use (up to 40hrs.) Work environment is good, cafeteria on site with wide range of choices. Gym access. Beautiful campus and company-wide strides to go green are big positives. Upper management and owners will sit amongst employees at lunch, very friendly and approachable.
Cons
Huge divide between factory workers and office workers, Cook almost has it's own caste system. Too much middle management at the factory level, as is the case with many large companies. In the factory, emphasis is put on "making rate", but no incentive is given when exceeded. Supervisors are more like babysitters (hearkening back to the middle management), except they're not paid much more and most have too much stress with a terrible attitude. Rigorous time clock policies (clocking in right on time is late) for hourly employees, in a building as large as those, some grace time should be given (even high schools have passing periods.) Office workers seems exempt from all of this....no timeclocks, no strict lunch time.
