Pros

The best, and only reason to be an employee at Coram is the fact that it is a Home Infusion Company. As a Registered Nurse, this is considered to most in the field to be one of the best arenas to work in. Hospitals are very labor intensive, patient acuity (how sick the patients are) is extremely high, and the nursing shortage is immense. So, for a Registered Nurse to have a job where she can be out in the community, and not confined in a facility, is obviously considered optimal.

Cons

Coram has been plagued by bankruptcy issues for approximately 20 years, barely keeping themselves afloat. I can only assess the competency of management at the local level involving the branch located in Charlotte, NC. The Pharmacy, Branch, and Nursing managers at this location are grossly incompetent and totally detached from the dedication that you would expect them to contribute. Compared to other Home Infusion Companies, their salaries for nurses ranks among the lowest. Several nurses, and employees from other divisions have had serious complaints about management. These complaints were expressed to managers at the Corporate level to no avail. These managers at the Charlotte branch were singlehandedly responsible for destroying the physician referral base in surrounding cities in North Carolina, to the point where during the years of 2004-current, they basically have no referrals in wide areas of the community.
