Pros

I have very few good things to say about the management at this company, but on a bright note they give out gift cards and lunch every time a deal is closed.

Cons

The turn over rate at this company is extremely high for good reasons. I was once told that they give good bonuses and then that bonus season we got below average bonuses. When we conforted management they had the audacity to tell me that "lower level employees do not affect business and therefore are not bonused if we have a good year" If one of your employees does not affect the business why do you have them? The communication between management and employees is awful. So happy I left that place.

Pros

It's a really good group of senior talent to learn from and work with. I enjoyed the approachability the most and they always welcome a good attitude. Felt like there was an actual culture here vs. other investment banks.

Cons

It's an investment bank, so the cons of a typical investment bank. However, I think that Covington does get it right. I think that the hours/ work life balance are pretty solid here. A poster mentioned comp and I think that's the trade off when junior folks are being used efficiently unlike other shops. That being said, comp is competitive given the hours and you'd hard pressed to find that elsewhere. You can max your comp by going to Jeffries and working 100+ hours a week etc. if you so choose.
