Pros
I was in IT so this does not reflect on Creighton as a whole. IT is entirely isolated from the rest of Creighton University. The 10 days off over Christmas was what everyone falls back on working here. Occasional downtime was nice and work/ life flexibility great depending on who your direct manager was. Got very lucky with a few incredible brilliant coworkers in my role.
Cons
Not enabled to do the job at hand. Things I was expected to complete was not possible with tools given and resources delegated to assist were often times unwilling to help. Far too much management to the degree goals conflicted depending who I was talking to. Much of leadership has never held a technical support role to any degree so it is tough to reflect day to day adversities to someone who could not relate. Progress could not be met due to this overly managed structure, because forward progress died in meetings time and time again. Zero pay advancement and even less career advancement. No considerations or opportunity to enter the realm of leadership for technicians. Collaboration with other teams was near impossible as they terminate discussions that entail any sort of obligation from them.
