Pros

My RSM and other BDM’s were the one positives.

Cons

Where do I start……. The moment I walked it I had misgivings - the place was ice cold and I think that’s a reflection of the high staff turnover. A joke was made at a conference about how many BDM’s had left in under a year and the figure was frightening. The induction was a month long and you had to be away from home for 3 weeks of that, but also they try to cover too much on that period. You would be better off learning HR and Health and Fundamentals and then shadowing in the field. You will be on a hiding to nothing. The appointments are shockingly bad and if you’re not in the inner circle of BDM’s who have been there a while, you are fundamentally screwed. If you think you can sell expensive HR and H&S services to kebab shops and succeed, then think again - you are setup to fail and just make the numbers up to sit the poor appointments. They want you to self generate from data pots that are over 10 years old in places, but they make out they are giving you some golden key to the kingdom. All appointments are treated equal in their eyes, which couldn’t be further from reality. The protected BDM’s get inbound enquiries for people with active issues, new starters are getting low grade hospitality appointments or companies with 0 staff, who have either been harassed into taking a meeting or have accepted it based on a free document critique. The sales conferences are like something from North Korea, all applauding the dear leaders, which I think was more a reflection of staff not feeling secure. They put you on a short notice termination too, so when they inevitably let you go, you get a weeks notice! Just adding to their lack of humility. I saw somebody mention open door policy in one of the reviews, but don’t believe it, I was told early on “do not make suggestions and definitely don’t criticise”. Upper management have a grandiose sense of self importance, but the way they use data is to suit themselves and to bury you is just awful and the corporate mantras are painful to listen to, but they actually believe it’s motivational. I can’t think of anywhere where I’ve seen data used so poorly and the 9 month commission cycles along with the awful appointments, and short notice termination are deliberately set to ensure you never see that commission and you’re there to ensure appointments are sat. You have a software company called Bright, who are part of the same group, who will do an offering at a much cheaper rate. The product itself isn’t terrible, but for businesses already under huge financial pressure, they just can’t afford to sign up to £170+ for 5 years (with no cancellation and auto renews). Companies are getting more clued up with AI too, which can write compliant documentation for free. I closed a deal there which they completely messed up, and the business owner said to me “get away from these people, you are are way too good for them” and I wished I had listened to her. Save yourself the blot on your CV and look elsewhere.
