Pros
Some coworkers are good people
Cons
This is specifically about Northeast Propane & Saveway, a subsidiary of DCC Propane in Danielson, Connecticut, US and DCC’s HR. I worked there for 3 years and the company had a 90%, a 90%! turnover rate. Technicians, salesmen, CSR’s and others all quit or were fired. Two employees left because they were bullied by coworkers while the manager silently did nothing about it, though all was allegedly reported but nothing corrected. The manager himself is a narcissist who speaks negatively about anyone that works for him. Since he was promoted to District Manager, it was normal for him to work a 20 hour work week. To my count, he took at least 90 days off in a single year (but he’ll “be on [his] cell if you need [him]”), and that is not including half days he took. It is normal for him to call his drivers or technicians “morons” or “idiots” not to their face, but behind their back. He has a track record of misogyny who treats women considerably better than men. If you need to make a complaint, do not bother. He will just look at you, tell you to shut up and to go back to your desk (which happened to a few coworkers). All his actions perpetuate a toxic work environment. In addition. Two particular employees who are held in the highest regard are the epitome of toxic coworkers. One is vindictive, manipulative and self righteous and if you cross her or bother her, she will stop at nothing to make your life hell. The other is so tightly wound that she will openly scream and insult people that interrupt her work and refuses to give any work to lighten hers. For some odd reason however, though they have been reported numerous times by coworkers for reprehensible behavior, management is either afraid to or are unwilling to correct the behaviors. HR or anyone higher up does not care about what is happening at the company due to all they see are dollar bills. It doesn’t help that HR is in Chicago so they are insulated of what issues are truly going on. The company is also hemorrhaging customers left and right due to either new policies, fees or price increases they are forcing onto the customer. The kicker is corporate seems to be complacent with that as well which was interesting to notice firsthand. I could go into more detail about the company’s issues, but my best advice is ignore all their job listings and find something you will love.
