Pros
- They hire the right people for the right positions and, if they see potential in you, there is room for progression.
- They always promote from within.
- They offer flexible working both officially, and are more generally speaking very flexible when things (for example, a family emergency) come up.
- Lots of good feedback on your performance.
- A jovial atmosphere (at least in my department, but from what I can hear of other departments, it's a company-wide thing)
- Good remuneration and, if you're in sales, an excellent commission structure.
- The opportunity to travel.
- They actually listen to, and will implement if appropriate, staff suggestions. In fact, staff are encouraged to come forward with any ideas for improving the business or the office in general.
Cons
- It's a small office, so it's difficult not to notice when a couple of people want to have a private conversation about another individual (say, a manager discussing a non-manager with another manager) even though they will kind of try to hide it, which I guess they should get kudos for at least trying to be discreet.
- I think for certain roles, working from home should be the norm, not the exception as it currently is.
