Pros
The owner of Dayton Freight goes the extra mile when it comes to morale: family picnics, softball, safety rewards, etc. You can tell he really appreciates his employees. It's nice to work for a family owned company.Benefits are pretty good. If I hadn't moved out of state, I would like to think I'd still be working at Dayton Freight.
Cons
Unfortunately, some of the terminal managers are lacking experience in the industry and pick and choose favorite drivers, regardless of safety. This results in good drivers being let go for small infractions and other drivers staying on after major accidents that have cost the company thousands. Whatever you do-don't get sick. There are no sick days here, although that is the norm in this industry. However the sick leave policy is a little harsh.
