Pros

Smart, collaborative people who generally care about quality and customer outcomes. Interesting technical problems across enterprise SaaS, integrations, identity, reliability, and operational tooling. Opportunities to work cross-functionally and have visible impact. Strong exposure to real customer and business needs.

Cons

Engineering team has shrunk over time, which has increased pressure on remaining teams. Still working out how to utilize AI to best advantage for the business and the engineering teams. Priorities can shift, and ownership can sometimes be unclear. Shifting from remote-first to hybrid model.

Pros

This was a rewarding team to work with and provided a lot of opportunity for growth. The team generally was friendly and respected work-life balance apart from big priority pushes. They made a lot of resources available to me for growth, and even when I was challenged I felt comfortable expressing when I was stressed, frustrated or satisfied. And there's lots of access to the executive team.

Cons

I felt like the company hired VP/C-suite people at a time when they needed to invest in more doers. And some really talented middle managers wound up losing opportunities to grow into bigger challenges because they installed external leaders over them. At the time, we were hearing about a need to be more efficient. And then in come leaders who must have carried higher price tags than promoting from within. It just felt like abandoning the culture that helped the company grow through the pandemic. I hope those leaders succeeded, but I personally felt their leadership styles were poor.
