Pros

I just celebrated my 3rd anniversary at Deep Sky. I’ve really enjoyed the diverse projects and clients we attract and have loved collaborating with the talented team we have. Deep Sky takes great care and consideration when hiring new employees, which is evident with the team that we have assembled. The ego is checked at the door and there seems to be a great passion for team and collaboration amongst the artists. A common thread is that the employees are invested in making the best art possible. The growth of the studio over the last few years is truly remarkable. I would say that this is a great studio to work for. Sure there are occasional late nights here and there but it’s not the norm. Deep Sky strikes a good balance of work hard, play hard. The experience has been great, I’m really excited to stick around and watch the next 3 years unfold. Onward!

Cons

Growing pains are always challenging.

Pros

Last month I was going through a life changing period of time. My son was diagnosed with High-risk Neuroblastoma cancer and had to spend two weeks at the hospital and at home as a caregiver/parent. These combinations + work made it really hard to stay concentrated and get projects done. I like to believe that the heart of a studio is defined by how it responds to complicated situations with its artists. Since the day I was brought on, I was welcomed with grace and enthusiasm from the studio and has shown me what a true family-oriented culture is all about. Not only does the studio encourage you to learn/strengthen your skills and abilities, they are supportive during burnouts, personal time and understand that everybody adapts/learns differently. This is a fast-paced studio and you will run into challenges with projects but one thing is for sure, you will have a lot of room to grow as an artist; your feet will never touch the ground.

Cons

This is not so much a con as it is a challenge, projects are often times very fast-paced and you will have to put on your "adapting" brain to learn about a project you know nothing about within a short period of time. Luckily, producers do a fantastic job of getting artists up to speed and comfortable for the takeover of the project.

Pros

I'm a newer addition to the Deep Sky team but feel like I have been here for years with how fast I have become close to my fellow coworkers and how valued I am by my management team. I have never stayed at a job for more than 2 years, just to switch things up, and this is the first time I've felt instantly that this is a place I'd like to set roots down and grow with a team. This studio is filled with amazingly talented and incredibly genuine people. It's a great environment to create, experiment, strive, thrive, and build skills. The work ranges across the board and no day/project is ever the same (well, except our bread and butter projects, but we still find ways to keep it fresh). It's always interesting and we're always in it together and I cannot wait to see all the amazing things we're all going to build together.

Cons

No unique cons here, just the usual production gripes!
