Pros

-The healthcare package is really good. -Benefits start on Day One -Access to impressive alumni -Free tuition for you and your family -Competitive TIAA match (instead of a 401k)

Cons

-The pay is below market average -Limited remote work even though it’s not necessary to be on campus most of the time -Consensus-based decision making -Very hierarchy-driven -Bad, toxic culture I’ve written a review three times and it keeps getting deleted. Strange, but it doesn’t surprise me because this organization is notorious for turning a blind eye and sweeping things under the rug. They care more about their reputation than the students. The majority of the leadership team is focused on looking good for the president more than doing what’s morally right. So if you want to work at a place where they adjust numbers for advisory board to review, use funds inappropriately, and reward professors who sexually harass students, then this is the place for you. Hardworking people who bring fresh ideas keep abruptly disappearing or “retiring.” For a university that teaches students to be free thinkers it certainly isn’t encouraged by the staff and it’s created a fear-based culture. Denison has changed its ways over the last several years and it hasn’t been for the good.

Pros

Learned a lot while I was still a student. The team was fantastic, super friendly.

Cons

The pay was in par with everything else on campus - wasn't higher despite the higher bar of the job.

Pros

Good pay, with very active campus life

Cons

No formal infrastructure for mentoring visiting professors. I was held on four four years in a series of one year contracts, which, in retrospect, could have been consolidated into multi-year contracts
