Pros
- Higher than average pay that comes with working for a larger firm. - Benefits were in line with other firms. After doing this for a while and having been at different law firms, it all seems similar enough.
Cons
- The firm went through a series of mergers and acquisitions and, as a result, acquired a mashup of different office cultures that don’t always mesh well. - Bottom line driven business and people are often laid off with no rhyme or reason. Upper management might ask for 10% reduction across all departments, HR will lay off people to meet demands often without telling those employee’s direct supervisors. It was so bizarre to witness. - The firm favors attorneys with large clients that can afford to pay higher rates (+ for bigger overhead). Life is sweeter if you work for a group that has those clients. ;)
