Pros

Free juice and pop. Free granola bars. Beer Friday. Occasional social function. Cool looking office. Great views of downtown from windows.

Cons

Make all sorts of promises and don't keep any. Use scare tactics to get you to make them sound good as a company. Tell you they give you professional development and other incentives, then only give to favourite employees or take it all away just so they can save themselves money. Untruthful about the actual culture of company, which is not what they want all to believe.

Thanks for your feedback! You’re right about working on culture, it’s something that we have put our energy into since day one and continue to focus on today. The last year has been quite turbulent for many organizations in Alberta, although we’re proud to say that our team has continued to grow and enjoy the same benefits as when we first started. Additionally, in 2015 we launched our Career Coaching Program to ensure that all employees have access to professional development opportunities, we are heading to Banff for our company Christmas party, and we are launching an RRSP matching program! So while our culture may evolve over time, we still hold it close to our hearts and dedicate a significant amount of effort to making DevFacto a great place to work. (And yes, we still have free snacks, monthly social events and beer o’clock!)

Pros

- great salary in 2022 ($85K/year) - up to date tech - ability to get additional tech for job (they had a budget for it) - welcoming was very awesome and got introduced to the team in a wonderful way - awesome end of the work day hangout Discord sessions to get to know your coworkers or other people at the company that you don't work with - overall, people are very friendly and decent

Cons

- was told to reach out to coworkers to chat during welcoming week and then found out they had no idea that it was part of the process for new employees (communication lacking for management down to the team members) - some employees that have worked there for a while are rude and don't realize it even though several people have told them to stop the behavior that causes concern - my boss heard the reason that I needed time off work and then started diminishing by talking about his experience (so your experience there will depend on the boss you have) - communication lacked even though they had Discord and MS Teams - official emails to clients weren't really sent out - everything was through voice chat and there wasn't any documentation to be found on what was completed for the client - database structure was questionable - they might have changed it since then... but they did not have a testing environment, everything went straight to production... huge red flag
