Pros

Lots of perks, trust employees to do their jobs and respect their workplace. DB doesn't nickel and dime us, their unlimited PTO and work from home policies were the ultimate expression of this. Come in and do your job and the company will take care of you. In some ways...

Cons

Management talks a good game but when push comes to shove they're not realistic about how this company can function. There is an explicit push for employees to resolve issues directly, which just came to mean that someone was going to pull rank and shut down any debate if they didn't care to address a problem. When the problem was managers disregarding company values in a way that hurt their subordinates, it was impossible to use a framework that relied on those values in order to address the problem. The system only works if all people participate, and it's management's failing for not seriously evaluating whether everyone was participating. My department was gutted during the October 2017 layoffs. Those who were let go seemed to be mostly those who stood up to the boss. Nobody likes being laid off, but I was not sad to say goodbye to the toxic scene at Disruptor Beam and while I've missed seeing some of my friends every day I have not missed the sense of dread I felt waking up every morning to go to a place where I would be insulted, disrespected, and made to look stupid in front of my peers. I was happier the day after I lost my job than I was at any point in the three months beforehand.

Pros

Great co-workers and great benefits.

Cons

The company has gone through several downsizes but that is expected in the industry.

Pros

A deeply collaborative environment staffed with kind, hard-working, and generous employees. Work with the biggest IPs in the world and sometimes meet your heroes as a result. Even the bad reviews admit that compensation/benefits and work/life balance are top-notch--rare and wonderful things in this industry, and not to be dismissed lightly. The office is also friendly and accommodating to women, minority, LGBTQ, and disabled employees in equal measure--no Rioters here. Our diminished size, while obviously also a con, is the prospective hire's pro. If you want room to grow, we have tons to spare.

Cons

Layoffs are bad. Failure is bad. Clearly things are bad all around right now for a review war to have erupted here. Every employee who has passed through Disruptor Beam has put in 110% effort, and it is deeply frustrating to both former and current employees when management fails to hold up their end of the bargain.
