Pros

-Free boarding -Free bathing -Discounted grooming -Free daycare -Get to be around animals and build bonds with pets and their owners -Above average pay -We get tips -Get to listen to your own music on the job -Bring your pets to work -Very flexible with scheduling days off and vacations. -No set vacation days, but if you request it off in advance you're good to go. -They don't discriminate based on appearance. We have girls with all kinds of piercings, tattoos, and/or colored hair :)

Cons

-Hours not guaranteed. I work "full time" and some weeks I barely make 25-30 hours -Employees schedules keep changing without any notice. -No benefits even for full-time employees -Work holidays, no holiday pay. -Upper management calls us "replaceable" because anyone can do our job. But trust me, not everyone WANTS to do our job. We get throwed up on sometimes, we wipe smeared poo off the walls and windows of the dogs kennels, clean up their diarrhea, dogs hurt themselves occasionally and get blood all over themselves, us, and their rooms. We get bites, scratches, and bruises every single day. -Dogs Day Inn is not held responsible if you get injured on the job. And believe me, it happens. -Pay is good, but doesn't equal the amount of work that we do as kennel techs. (Receptionists here earn almost $2 more than kennel techs do and sometimes it feels like they get paid to do nothing while we do all the work) -Company owners are very tight with their money and don't like talking to their employees. Also they will do anything to make sure we don't get overtime even if it means that we don't even meet basic full-time requirements which is 40 hours a week. -They simply DO NOT hire men. If you are a guy who loves animals, it doesn't matter how much you plead. You won't get hired. EVER. You won't even hear back for an interview. Don't even bother trying. Simply speaking, If you have a p*nis, you can't work for Dogs Day Inn.

Pros

Great managers; very accommodating and give you a lot of flexibility in scheduling hours.

Cons

A lot of the other kennel techs need to be more attentive with their tasks, especially when it comes to refilling dirty water bowls, cleaning up messes, and giving the dogs more time to go to the bathroom outside. The shifts were too short. I think an extra hour is needed so employees aren't as rushed to finish working. I felt that some employees didn't do as well a job because we were so rushed most of the time to get all of the work done before our shift ended. This will ensure that employees do a better job fulfilling ALL of their tasks well so that the dogs are better taken care of.
