Don't work here - Administrative Assistant Dorevitch Pathology Employee Review

Pros

Literally nothing, I hated every minute.

Cons

Have worked here for more than 5 years and management has only gone downhill. Pay, hours, management are all terrible. Results systems are from the 90s and outdated and the 'new' phones are made of plastic. I've been grilled by management about 1 tiny mishap but never praised for the 99 other good things I do. Newly implemented management has now got you on your own 'pathway' meaning you aren't allowed to help anyone else that isn't on your path too. If someone calls in sick from another area nobody gets replaced and now nobody else can fill their position because its not on their 'pathway'. They're sending jobs to the Philippines now because they're cheaper and will be bought out in a few years if I had to guess. The amount of 1 star reviews are self explanatory enough but they are all true.

Pros

Wonderful team and comprehensive training for someone with no lab experience.

Cons

Poor remuneration & obscene workload. Consequently, staff retention rates are rock bottom. I would say this is why there is constant understaffing, but that's because the company will not (or cannot) allocate more funds to staffing and staff requisition. A recent change in upper middle management following a restructure resulted in significantly reduced casual rostering, leaving full and part timers to pick up the slack since they are 25% cheaper to roster. This change and the reasoning was not communicated to the wider team, reinforcing the impression of shadowy management and underhanded tactics to the benefit of executives and detriment of staff. Expect to routinely do 6+ days in a row, split weekends, and 2-4 different shifts in one roster. Pay WILL be docked for being >1 minute and 59 seconds late, overtime is only paid if approved, i.e., lots of unpaid overtime, unless you like leaving your team in a lurch. Your well-being is of no concern to the company, only your output.
