Pros

Remote first. Some very hungry jr. and mid level engineers that will be great with the right training and mentorship. Nice people.

Cons

Challenging culture. Very strange engineering leadership. Expect to be merging PRs at 11pm. A sr leader once told us he could do our jobs better than us. There’s a lack of product understanding and experience from product team. Leads to scope creep and pushes work back to ENG. Many engineers have raw talent but need to be better trained. Also some strong product people that could benefit from gathering domain expertise. To their defense, it’s been hard to hire for the right persona when the strategy is constantly shifting.

Pros

Drata’s remote first culture attracts many talented engineers across the globe. It’s amazing to be able to work with people from almost every continent and feel like you are all in the same virtual room. There are lots of opportunities to mentor and learn especially given the unique product requirements and timing around the rise of AI.

Cons

Being part of a startup is always chaotic and challenging. Some people thrive while others struggle to keep up. That’s the name of the game.

Pros

Good training and enablement, great teammates.

Cons

Management was a bit confused. Frequent disconnects between mid level management and the lower level teams. Poor communication overall.
